Phoenix residents march to potest the California

About three hundred people marched on Camelback Road in Phoenix to protest the California state supreme court decision that preserved an amendment to California’s constitution, forbidding same-sex marriage.
Tuesday night’s protestors held signs that read, “Let me vote on your marriage,” “Keep religion out of politics” and “I love just like you love.”
Jackson Morrow married his husband in California last summer. They were among an estimated 18,000 couples who got married in California before the ban was adopted. The California state supreme court said those marriages will remain valid.
“I’m glad that the court upheld my marriage,” Morrow said, adding that he wishes others were in the same position.
He said he lost sleep after California voters passed the gay marriage ban last November.
“The people did speak, but there was a lot of deception the last election,” Morrow said, adding he hopes an effort will be made to have voters overturn the ban next year.
Also marching was Donna, who got married to her partner, Charika, in California last summer.
“I think a lot of people were confused on what that ballot was,” she said, adding, “I think a lot of people were confused on what the ballot was here in Arizona.”
Arizona voters O.K.ed Proposition 102, which defined marriage as between a man and a woman, this past November.
Those marching in Phoenix Monday night vowed to carry on their protests until everybody is permitted to marry. The march was sponsored by the Arizona chapter of Marriage Equality USA.
