Here are the actual facts. Written permission was given by the District office to our Diversity Chaireprson to put up the display. The reason that the display was taken down, was due to complaints and fear of the media finding out about the display. Permission from the Milwaukee Postmaster was never a requirement for any of the displays in the past including this one. It was a NEW rule that was added after the display was taken down for cover. The requirements for the display were met, otherwise the District office would not have signed off on it. I know first hand of these facts because I am on the Diversity Team in Milwaukee. My hope is that we can band together and somehow make things right to the GLBT community, in spite of what one person did.
